A Message From John Bryan

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

I am offering myself as a candidate for the office of IFA President because I believe I have the track record, energy and negotiating skills to provide strong and effective leadership at this time of enormous difficulty for farmers.

As Chairman of the National Livestock Committee of the IFA, I delivered real benefits for farmers and the economy.

Among my achievements were:

  • Banning of Brazilian beef imports into the EU
  • Protecting live exports through radical changes in regulations on transport.
  • Negotiating the Suckler Cow Welfare Scheme against all the odds
  • Boosting the Single Farm Payment through successful negotiation of the beef premium overshoot

I have the track record in delivering for farmers. I am committed to devote every ounce of energy at my disposal in fighting the savage cutbacks of recent months and in protecting the vital Single Farm Payment.

I am asking for your No 1 vote in the election

John Bryan to lead protest at Goodman Group

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

John bryan, who intends to run for IFA President later this year, will lead a delegation of kilkenny livestock farmers to an IFA livestock committee picket of the Goodman [AIBP] headquarters in Ardee today to highlight the low beef prices paid to Irish lvestock farmers by the Goodman group.

This is in sharp contrast to the high prices being paid to UK beef farmer by the same group.
